Hi, I'm Janie

As a therapist, I am honored to be able to sit and hear your story. You know yourself better than I do, so I love using your strengths to build emotional and mental strength.

My background

I began on a completely different career path but kept feeling a greater desire to work with children. I soon discovered that not only do children sometimes need support, but their family as well.

I also enjoy working with young adults, during school hours and after, who are trying to find a path in life. I am a big believer that sometimes we just need to talk, listen, and have our feelings validated to move forward.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) that specializes in Play Therapy for children. I went to the University of Georgia for undergraduate degree, and then Richmont Graduate University to get my masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I love children and letting them use their natural language of play to tell me what is going on and how I can help them. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help those who are older to be able to take their negative thoughts and reframe them into more realistic thoughts that will last.

With any client, mindfulness is the foundation so we can learn to listen to our bodies and emotions and honor them. I know communities can be small, so I am very conscious about confidentiality and keeping your privacy. Outside of work, I love to be outdoors. I'm a Mexican food devotee, a Hufflepuff, and have a cat named Floyd.
